It’s good to see that some projects are still going forward at Walt Disney World despite losses at the parks and a slower than expected attendance. In preparation for the NEW Disney-themed show “Drawn to Life” that was supposed to open earlier this year the venue on the west side of Disney Springs has undergone renovation. DPR Construction Inc is the general contractor for this project which will expire on October 31st. The second project with commencement papers is the Cirque du Soleil venue at Disney Springs. Image Credit: Cirque du Soleil/Disney Cirque du Soleil “Drawn To Life” According to the piece in OBJ, the project will include reconstruction of the theme parks main entryway with new “visual spaces,” pathways, greenery and overall improved aesthetics. Project G is the name that’s been given to the renovation of EPCOT’s entrance filed a permit for “amended foundation work.” The general contractor for the project is The Whiting-Turner Contracting Co. According to a recent piece in the Orlando Business Journal, this week, Disney filed a pair of notice of commencement documents with Orange County indication that construction is underway on Epcot and Disney Springs attractions. Though we do know that certain projects including a Spaceship Earth revamp and Mary Poppins ride at EPCOT have been put on hiatus it’s good to know that Disney does still have plans to move ahead on a few of their other projects. SInce Walt Disney World closed earlier this year due to the COVID-19 crisis, many have been wondering what will happen to all of Disney’s projects since attendance is low and many of the theme parks are suffering financial hardships in the aftermath of the shutdown.
